anoo

Without differences, life would be pretty boring.

Last weekend, I went to the Sumida River Fireworks Festival. It is the biggest firework festival in Tokyo. When I say big, I mean over one million people attend big. The rest of my classmates went to Temple near Tokyo tower. Luckily, I had made some friends with some international students at Hosei University so I went with them. Well the international students were Chinese, Taiwanese, and French. So speaking English was not popular. However, since we all spoke Japanese, we communicated in Japanese. It was fun. I was able to learn a lot about their lives and aspirations. Japanese brought us together. By the way, the fireworks were ridiculous.

I like the ratio

cool

Japanese brought me and my classmates together at the Sun Academy. All of my classmates in the SANC come from very difference backgrounds. We come from different states (not to mention countries). We range in age and class. But maybe most importantly we differ in our opinions. I value these differences just as I value the differences between American and Japanese cultures. Thanks to differences I have learned a lot. Not just about Japanese, but about my view of life.
We argue on various topics (fiercely); from ping-pong movies to the War in Iraq. However, at the end of the day we are able to get along (well for the most part, haha). I know I would have not tried a lot of the food if other people did not convince me. For a long time I tried to stick to American food. However, I was persuaded little by little, and now I eat Japanese food almost everyday. It tastes good. I’m actually regretting return to the U.S and having to eat America food. I thank them for making my experience is Japan as enjoyable as possible, and I know our friendships will continue when we return to school.

We had a business meeting

YAY for classmates
